Gloucester AGL protest update

Citizens march against coal seam gas mining in Gloucester
Gloucester farmer, Ed Robinson said, “The Government has loudly and clearly told the people of my community that they won’t impose any additional restrictions on AGL to bring them up to the new standards they’ve announced this week for coal seam gas industry.
“There are around one hundred people living within 2km of this fracking site right now, who will be exposed to the harmful pollutants gas wells release into the air.”

Anti-CSG Protest outside AGL headquarters

Picketers outside AGL headquarters in Miller Street, North Sydney protesting the approval of coal seam gas fracking within 300 metres of homes in Gloucester and near Camden. They have vowed to continue their vigil every Thursday between 10.00 am and 1.30 pm until the CSG mining is stopped.

Redfern Tent Embassy


The Redfern Tent embassy was organised by Jenny Munro on Sorry Day in May of this year to demand low cost Aboriginal housing in the Block. The Block on Everleigh and Vine streets is now the most valuable vacant lot in Sydney less than 2 km from the CBD but it was once home to 100 Aboriginal families.

Sydney March in May rally ends in sit down protest.

Tens of thousands of protestors concerned about welfare, health and education cuts to the Federal budget rallied at Belmore Park in Sydney then marched on George Street. Towards the end of the rally students from UTS and others blocked George Street with a sit-in. There were several arrests.

Rally for The 10th Anniversary of TJ Hickey's Death

TJ's mother Gail Hickey places a symbolic plaque where TJ died.
On February 14th 2014 family and supporters of indigenous teenager TJ Hickey rally at the site where he died in 2004 during a police chase. They are calling for a proper investigation and permission to erect a permanent plaque at the fenceline.
