Pop-up Protest at the Renovators TV show Auction

On Tuesday night 27th September during the Renovators TV show auction at 146 Addison Road in Marrickville, several concerned Sydney residents and activists staged an audacious protest against proposed coal seam gas mining in St Peters. When bidding had finished they brandished their placards yelling: "Coal seam gas mining will destroy your property values!". Security guards removed them from the premises but as they were leaving the program's producer said: "Look we are on your side but this is all got to be cut from the show." Many in the audience expressed support for the demonstrators.

According to organiser Paul Benedek: "Half a dozen Stop CSG activists (including Colin Ryan, Bill, Anne Jackson, John G, Josie and myself) attended 'The Renovators' auction at Addison Rd, just 2km from the proposed CSG site. When the auction was about to finish after only one bid, I raised the Stop CSG triangle, was asked if it was a bid, and said "it's a bid to Stop Coal Seam Gas!". We were kicked out but most people we passed congratulated us and the show's producer also said personally he supports our cause!'
